According to Public Health Wales data, the number of COVID-19 cases in the north of Wales is sharply rising with a total of 2,123 cases as of today.

Aaron Wynne, a Plaid Cymru county councillor in Conwy, has said lockdown rules in Wales should not be eased until every region has safely passed its peak number of cases.

Cllr Wynne said;

"Public Health Wales data shows that the number of COVID-19 cases in the Betsi Cadwaladr Health Board region is still rising, and it's rising quicker than any other region in Wales.

"The peak number of cases in the north is yet to be reached, with a total of 2,123 confirmed cases in the region so far.

"The Welsh government must wait until each region in Wales has safely passed its peak number of cases before lifting any lockdown rules. Easing the lockdown rules too early could see a large number of people flock to beauty spots in the north of Wales whilst the number of Coronavirus cases continue to rise.

"This is not over. People should remain at home and not make any unnecessary travel."
