Mae Cynghorydd Conwy a'r Comisiynydd Heddlu a Throsedd wedi cyhoeddi datganiad ar y cyd i atgoffa ymwelwyr i beidio ymweld â Chonwy yn ystod y cyfnod clo.

This call has been made following the UK government's announcement that lockdown measures would be eased in England from Wednesday.

The Welsh government, who decide on lockdown rules in Wales, has already agreed another 3 weeks of lockdown in Wales.

Cllr Aaron Wynne, who represents Llanrwst on Conwy Council, said;

"Conwy and the north of Wales is closed to visitors at this time.

"Conwy is a tourist hub nestled between the sea and the mountains. We look forward to welcoming you here in the future when it's safe to do so.

"The message in Wales is clear and has not changed. Stay at home and don't make unnecessary travel. This will help us save lives."

Arfon Jones, Police and Crime Commissioner for North Wales Police, added that fines should be tripled in Wales for people who break coronavirus travel restrictions. He said;

"I'm now calling again on Welsh Government to increase the fine as a greater deterrent to those looking to make unnecessary journeys with in Wales.

“It is important that the police continue with the current approach of engaging, educating and encouraging people to comply with the law in Wales.

“But for those who do not listen, we need to continue to enforce the law so we’re calling for fines to start from £1,000 rising to £3,000 for repeat offenders.”
